The BaseLab

BaseLab is short for "Basement Laboratory" since it is located in the APS basement! 

Services:

• Vacuum and controlled atmosphere induction, plasma, and arc melting
• Small scale vacuum induction casting
• Shearing apparatus for processing of soft metals
• Tungsten arc melting
• Vapor & Plasma Deposition
• Atmospheric simulation and testing i.e. corrosion studies
• Single crystal, nickel based alloy studies
• Precious metal reclamations
• Thermocouple calibration and life studies under controlled atmospheres
• Readily adaptable system for similar process development
• NOTE: We are willing to adjust or add to our laboratory in order to accomodate similar small scale testing not explicitly listed.

As a small company dedicated to consulting and installing equipment for other companies, we have not needed much hardware ourselves, however, recently things have begun to change. With several of the companies we have worked with in the past being somehow involved with either vacuum chambers or casting, we decided we needed a way to test equipment, procedures, and materials from the comfort of our own space.

Recently, we have gotten requests from customers to do small level testing. After much success, we are opening this opportunity publicly.

At the moment, The BaseLab is in its phase of humble beginnings, however, there is more in store for this facility. We plan to continue augmenting the system for more testing opportunities, enclose and secure the testing space, and potentially expand to a larger plant one day.
